Did you know that cucumbers are called "false berries"? The cucumber as we know it today is more than six thousand years old. It's home is Indian and Chinese tropical and subtropical forests. Cucumbers still grow there in natural environment. The pickle is known to us for at least 500 years. For example, in Russia people didn't like the taste of cucumbers in their natural form, so it was decided to pickle or marinate them just like mushrooms.
